Corporal Myers was a passenger in the Troop vehicle when it collided with another car near Amsterdam, New York.

Corporal Myers was the first Troop G member to be killed in the line of duty since Trooper Stanley C. Greene died on February 28, 1936.  Ironically, Corporal Myers served in the Guard of Honor during Trooper Greene’s funeral.
