A Bryan County Sheriff’s Deputy was killed in a single-car wreck on Old Highway 70 east of Durant around 6:30am this morning, January 14, 2020, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Deputy Jarid Taylor, 31, of Liberty, was said to be responding to an emergency call when his car left the roadway for an unknown reason and hit a tree. He died at the scene.
OHP Capt. Scott Hampton said at this point they do not know if the crash was weather-related, and that reconstruction of the crash is taking place on Tuesday.
Deputy Taylor is survived by his fiancée and two children, a five-year-old son and a six-year-old daughter.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
