Around 3:40pm, on Thursday, January 9, 2020, a school bus and a car collided on Memorial Drive, near Karlyn Drive, near New Castle, Delaware.
The car contained four high-school girls and tragically the 16-year-old driver was declared dead at the scene. She has since been named as Jordan Tate, a junior at William Penn High School. (Photograph below, from Instagram.)

The entire WP Football Family would like to extend our condolences, thoughts and prayers to Jordans loved ones and everyone else effected by this tragic event. Jordan was a selfless person, who according to friends always looked out for others no matter what. Here at WP theres multiple subfamilies. Theres the football family, dance troop family, chess club family. But all of those are just apart of one big WP family. Not only did we lose a family member yesterday, we lost a great one, one that embodies the type of person we all should be. RIP Jordan. 🙏 #Family
The three passengers from the car were all taken to hospital where one was described as serious and the other two stable. All four girls were 16 and all attended William Penn.
At the time, the school bus was carrying 22 students from Eisenberg Elementary School, none of whom were physically hurt.
