MEMORIAL PAGE – NYSP Trooper John J. Cahill – 90 years ago today

Our memorial pages at Road Safety USA exist to commemorate anybody who has been killed in a crash in the USA at any point in history since motor vehicles were first let loose on an unsuspecting public.

This is why, today, we honor the memory of New York State Police Trooper John J. Cahill who was killed exactly 90 years ago, on February 22, 1930, when he lost control of his motorcycle in Albany, NY.

Memorial Page – New York State Trooper Peter J. Formosa (1943)

On January 13, 1943, Trooper Peter J. Formosa died as a result of a military auto accident at Hempstead, New York.  At the time, Trooper Formosa was assigned to the U.S. Army, 826th Guard Squadron, Mitchell Field, Long Island, New York.

Memorial Page – NY State Police Trooper Raymond A. Plunkett

Trooper Plunkett, 27, died on January 5, 1934 as a result of a crash on Kirkland Hill, south of Utica, NY.

Returning to the Oneida barracks from his residence in Clinton, Trooper Plunkett’s vehicle was forced off the right side of the road.  He lost control and skidded on icy pavement across the road into a ditch striking a pole.  At the hospital, he was being treated for fractures of the jaw and facial bones when he died unexpectedly of a blood clot in his heart.
