Around 11:50 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2020, Kirk Coker, the Sheriff of Hutchinson County, TX, died in a one-vehicle wreck.
At approximately 7:17 pm on Friday, March 27, 2020, Trooper Nolan J. Sanders of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol was involved in a single vehicle crash while on duty in his assigned duty station of Troop C, District 2.
Today marks 17 years since Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant David P. Land was killed in the line of duty.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. this morning, Wednesday, March 18, 2020, Sheriff’s Deputy Kenterrous Taylor, aged 27, was thrown from his cruiser in a crash near the intersection of Forsyth Road and Napier Avenue, Macon, GA.
On March 17, 1970, NYSP Trooper Richard L. Weltz, age 30, lost his life in a one-car crash when his vehicle left the road on Route 219 in Hamburg.
Around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, a Hyundai Sonata ran off Ridge Road, in Springfield Township, Ohio, at a speed later estimated to be 92-97mph, and then struck a tree, tearing the car in half.
Captain Richard ‘Rick’ Cashin, aged 52, was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Route 1 in Saugus, MA, at approximately 1:45am on January 28, 2009.
A Bryan County Sheriff’s Deputy was killed in a single-car wreck on Old Highway 70 east of Durant around 6:30am this morning, January 14, 2020, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Trooper Plunkett, 27, died on January 5, 1934 as a result of a crash on Kirkland Hill, south of Utica, NY.
Returning to the Oneida barracks from his residence in Clinton, Trooper Plunkett’s vehicle was forced off the right side of the road. He lost control and skidded on icy pavement across the road into a ditch striking a pole. At the hospital, he was being treated for fractures of the jaw and facial bones when he died unexpectedly of a blood clot in his heart.
A crash at 2:30am on New Year’s Day, 2020, left three early-20s people dead and a fourth in hospital. The incident happened in Elmore County, about five miles east of Wetumpka, on Rifle Range Road near Peace Church Road.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency [ALEA], a 1997 Lexus ES300 that was being driven by Ladarious Antonio Griffin, 25, of Montgomery, left the road, struck a tree, and overturned.
