On March 8, 1958, Officer Raymond Vincent O’Connor, aged 30, of the California State Police, was killed in an automobile crash.
The cruiser Officer O’Connor was riding in collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. Officer O’Connor and his partner were returning to San Francisco after patrolling state property in San Jose.
The California State Police has since merged with the California Highway Patrol and they now operate only under the latter name.
Officer O’Connor had served with the agency for five years.
If any descendants, former CSP, CHP, or family friends wish to add further information or photographs to this page, it would be our privilege to do so in Officer O’Connor’s memory. If that is the case, please contact us at Road Safety USA, or use the Comments box on this page.
