At 6:47 p.m. on Thursday, Jan., 23, 2020, Police Officer Katie Thyne and her partner were investigating reports of drug activity when they approached a car on the 1400 block of 16th Street [Rt 167] in Newport News, Virginia.
During the investigation, the driver sped off, dragging Police Officer Thyne for a block before striking a tree.
