Just before 4:00pm on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, Trooper Justin R. Schaffer of the Washington State Patrol was struck and killed by a fleeing driver while he was placing spike strips on the southbound side of Interstate 5 in Chehalis, WA, during a police pursuit.
At 8:30pm on Saturday, March 21, 2020, Police Officer Kaia Grant, aged 33, of the Springdale Police Department, Ohio, was run down by an armed and allegedly suicidal driver.

Deputy Sheriff Sheldon Gordon Whiteman, of Long County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia, was killed in a crash while involved in a vehicle pursuit at approximately 3:00am, on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020.
Georgia State Police said the pursuit began in Ludowici when a Ludowici officer spotted a motorist running stop signs in the city. The officer began to pursue the driver [south eastwards] on Highway 57 in the direction of McIntosh County.
