Promoting Best-Practices and Supporting Crash Victims
A U.S. Senator for Massachusetts has slammed “egregious failures” by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for its lack of oversight, which he says is linked to an increase in fatal, truck-involved crashes.
Every year, over 4,500 people are killed in road crashes in the USA which involve big trucks.
This is a stunningly high figure so it begs a serious question as to why there are so many deaths.
It is not something that most people ever think about, but significant financial recessions such as the one in 2008-10 have a massive effect on reducing the number of road deaths around the world.

Highway Accident Brief 20/01 details the NTSB’s investigation of the collision of a 2018 Tesla Model 3 car with a 2019 International semi-tractor trailer on U.S. Highway 441 in Delray Beach, in which the 50-year-old driver of the car died. The 45-year-old truck driver was uninjured.
One of the many killers on American roads and highways that never gets enough attention is underride crashes (a.k.a. under-run), when cars collide with and then get crushed underneath the rear or the side of a large truck — typically a semi-tractor-trailer.
Trooper Cunniff, 35, died on December 17, 2013, as a result of injuries he received a day prior when his patrol car was struck by a tractor trailer.
Trooper Cunniff had made a traffic stop on the New York State Thruway in the City of Amsterdam. While he was in the process of issuing a traffic summons, a tractor trailer veered off the roadway and struck his patrol car as well as the vehicle he had stopped.
Trooper Cunniff was a nine-year veteran and was assigned to SP Fultonville at the time of his death.

Around 8:10pm on December 13, 2019, Harold Fitch, 73, was killed when he drove his Chevy Silverado pick-up truck underneath the side of a semi-trailer that was being backed into a private driveway on the 5500 block of Dayton Springfield Road, Springfield, OH, according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
