On November 11, 1966, on Route 15 near Bath, a tractor trailer made a left-hand turn into the path of Trooper Conrad’s vehicle.
Trooper Conrad, age 30, was killed instantly.
As a result of the subsequent investigation, the truck driver was charged with failing to yield the right-of-way.
Trooper Conrad had served in the Marine Corps (1954-57) and Air Force before joining the State Police on June 18, 1962. He served in Troops K and T before being assigned to SP Bath in 1964.
His daughter Cheryl contacted us at Road Safety USA and told us that her father “was survived by his beautiful young wife Jessie Mae Conrad, age 27, and five young children: Deborah, William, Donna, Betty and Cheryl herself, ranging in age from 11 weeks to 8 years.”
